This was my first visit (I live in California). Charlotte's uptown area was impressive, however, I was underwhelmed by the city itself. I can tell residents of your city are very sensitive and I don't want to offend anyone. You have much to be proud of but you should know that cities are about more than population and tall buildings. I was excited to visit a new city but was disappointed in many areas. The city seemed too new as if thats all that matters. What happened to your older buildings? Some of your contributors are upset that the article placed Charlotte in the same league as Richmond and Knoxville. Our organization met in Richmond two years ago and I loved it. It was very walkable, with diverse neighborhoods, beautiful architecture, etc. Its not perfect, doesn't have as many people as Charlotte nor as many tall buildings. But it has great character.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19601020.post-76821398074597435762012-02-18T10:57:41.384-05:002012-02-18T10:57:41.384-05:00It doesnt matter, people in the south are phony any...It doesnt matter, people in the south are phony anyway.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19601020.post-64289268771009488252012-02-10T09:25:07.282-05:002012-02-10T09:25:07.282-05:00Jamison's was the very best. I did, but it was a dirt and gravel parking lot.

Sports, parking, etc. were free when I was growing up, why isn't it now? Long ago when communities first began, the first things that got erected by the public besides a church was a school. Why? Because they knew it was (and is) important for our future as a community.
The city has a spending problem downtown, not in the schools. The beautiful arena that was on Tyvola road - only 20 years old was imploded and a new one built downtown. Things like that need to be under the microscope more, not the school.
Give me a break. I already now hve to shell out $100 smacks for every sport that my kids want to join!Greg Dinnsenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16623292692326129291noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19601020.post-5610045150886853252011-12-20T21:44:01.180-05:002011-12-20T21:44:01.180-05:00There are three potential locations for sidepaths:...There are three potential locations for sidepaths: North Tryon Street, University City Blvd and Old Concord Road. Cyclists try to avoid North Tryon Street and University City Blvd intersects with North Tryon Street so Old Concord Road is the main route used by cyclists traveling from UNCC to uptown. Unfortunately, the railroad company plans to build another track next to the existing track that parallels Old Concord Road and the other side of Old Concord Road has development too close to the road (http://maps.google.com/maps?q=old+concord+road+charlotte&hl=en&ll=35.27925,-80.734963&spn=0.004843,0.010568&hnear=Old+Concord+Rd,+Charlotte,+North+Carolina&gl=us&sqi=2&t=h&vpsrc=0&layer=c&cbll=35.279754,-80.735551&panoid=La_RQ1CbA0zVOzIEAMlRFg&cbp=12,239.96,,0,2.56&z=17) so the possibility of constructing a sidepath along Old Concord Road is a slim possibility.
